NYOS Junior Orchestra

NYOS Junior Orchestra is for Scotland’s most talented orchestral musicians aged 8 and over and the first step on the ladder for ambitious future members of NYOS Symphony Orchestra.

This year's programme features music with a Scottish Connection, including Malcolm Arnold’s Four Scottish Dances and Claude Debussy’s Marche Ecossaise. NYOS Junior Orchestra will also perform Edvard Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King, which is one of the BBC’s 10 Pieces.

The Scottish Connections theme continues into the summer with pieces by Scottish composers Hamish McCunn and John Maxwell Geddes.

We are delighted to welcome Holly Mathieson to conduct the 2015 NYOS Junior Orchestra. Holly, from New Zealand, is currently the Leverhulme fellow of conducting at BBCSSO as well as conducting fellow at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
