Classical Applications 2021

Applications for the NYOS Classical Pathway are now open and have a closing date of Friday 25 September 2020. It is free to audition and bursaries are available.

Since 1979, the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) has been providing young instrumentalists in Scotland with unforgettable training and performance experiences. Today, NYOS has more opportunities than ever before for keen young musicians.

  • Do you want to perform in orchestral ensembles at the highest national level?
  • Are you an aspiring musician who wants to improve your ensemble skills?
  • Do you want to learn from world-class professional musicians and work alongside renowned soloists and conductors?
  • Do you want to meet like-minded young people with a passion for great music?
  • Are you aged between 8 and 25 and have links to Scotland?

If you do, then NYOS would like to hear from you!

Just complete one application form to be considered for all NYOS classical orchestras.  Following your application, you will be invited to submit a recorded audition. If successful at the audition stage, you will be offered a place in a specific NYOS ensemble.

**Please note that this year there are no live auditions. All applicants must submit a recorded audition.

This year so far has been a challenging time and COVID-19 has caused disruption in all our lives. If you would like to apply to NYOS for 2021 activities, but are hesitant to do so due to not having your usual access to instruments, lessons and music making opportunities, please do not let this be a barrier.

We understand the obstacles musicians currently face and are fully flexible in accommodating applicants’ needs as best we can. Our application process is straightforward, and all auditions are submitted via recorded video this year.

If you foresee any issues with submitting an online application and/or audition, please reach out to us to discuss.
