Applications and Auditions for NYOS 2024
Applications for NYOS 2024 are now closed.
Thank you for your interest in joining NYOS for another spectacular year of music making.
We will soon announce the successful members of our orchestras for the coming year. Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our courses provide outstanding orchestral education and performance opportunities for young musicians living and studying in Scotland, as well as those with Scottish connections based further afield.
Our new Music Director, Catherine Larsen-Maguire, conducts NYOS in an all-American programme in spring 2024, and in summer NYOS gives the world premiere of a new triple concerto by Swedish composer Andrea Tarrodi, featuring the Amatis Trio and conducted by Teresa Riveiro-Böhm. Following its hugely successful debut year, NYOS Development Orchestra welcomes back conductor Natalia Luis-Bassa for two vibrant programmes, featuring the exceptional young soloist Aaron Azunda Akugbo in spring and Sibelius’s soaring Symphony No 1 in summer.
Financial Support
We encourage all those considering applying to NYOS to look at our Financial Assistance page to see what support you might be eligible for. In 2023, 31% of our members were granted free or reduced-price places, and everyone who applied for a bursary was awarded financial support. We know that everyone is currently facing financial constraints, and NYOS is no different. As our costs rise, we have had to increase our course fees for 2024, but we continue to subsidise every place on our courses by 66% to keep fees as low as possible.
** NO STUDENT WHO IS OFFERED A PLACE ON A NYOS COURSE WILL MISS OUT DUE TO FINANCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES **

Finance should never be a barrier to joining the NYOS community and we encourage everyone applying for NYOS to visit our Financial Assistance page to see what support you might be eligible for. Auditions are free and course bursaries of up to 100% are available.
If you have been a member previously you will notice an increase in membership fees. In 2023, course fees rose due to an increase in the length of courses, but the day rate did not increase. We are now increasing the day rate due to the continued increase of costs outside our control. We continue to subsidise attendance for all members by 66% and are doing all we can to keep fees as low as possible while maintaining the quality of our courses.
If anything is currently preventing you from applying to or auditioning for NYOS, please do let us know by emailing Judith Archibald (Head of Ensembles) at juditharchibald@nyos.co.uk.
