NYOS Camerata

About Camerata

NYOS Camerata is the showcase, pre-professional orchestra that bridges the gap between youth orchestra and professional ensemble and comprises current senior and past members of Scotland's national youth orchestra. It provides professional development experience for emerging musicians up to the age of 25 through a range of dynamic projects and collaborations, in a variety of settings and across genres, working alongside acclaimed professional musicians.

Forthcoming Performances

This year NYOS Camerata will perform at two of Scotland's most celebrated classical music festivals - the Lammermuir Festival in East Lothian in September, and the Cumnock Tryst in Ayrshire in October.

For our appearnace at Lammermuir, NYOS Camerata welcomes American violinist Eleana Urioste back to the NYOS family for performances of Max Richter's much-loved re-composition of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. NYOS Camerata is then joined in Cumnock by our Music Director, Catherine Larsen-Maguire, for a performance of Strauss’s beloved opera Der Rosenkavalier reimagined for wind ensemble by Nigel Shore.

Applications

NYOS Camerata membership is by invitation only. We often seek to provide pre-professional performance opportunities to senior members of Scotland's National Youth Orchestra, or those who are recent alumni.

As the performances are project-specific, there is no defined set-up of this orchestra, with size and scale determined by the individual project.
