Meet Our Music Leaders

We are delighted to introduce our 2025 Music Leaders! 

Connor Bristow

Connor Bristow is a composer and community creator who is fascinated by sound technology and composition as tools within workshops. They have led workshops resulting in some experimental audio experiences and audio dramas. They are keen to continue generating interesting community work, especially in their local area of Inverclyde.

Laura Carter

Laura is a 23 year old brass teacher and Masters student from Edinburgh, Scotland. Currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Laura is in her final year of the MA Psychology in the Arts (Music) degree, and is about to start her final project after studying music and developmental, performance and social psychology. Laura has been involved in brass bands since the age of 15 as a tuba player, and currently conducts youth bands and teaches privately and in high schools in the Midlothian area. Laura is primarily focused on music education and community music, aims to create music participation opportunities, and believes music is and should be for everyone, no matter your age, stage or circumstance.

Cameron Clark

Cameron is a violist from North Ayrshire. Currently a Music Education student at the University of Aberdeen, Cameron involves himself in orchestras such as the University of Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra, where he is section principal, Aberdeen City Orchestra and NYOS.

Jessica Hannah

Jessica is a clarinettist from Livingston who studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and enjoys ensemble playing and orchestral music.

Gavin Lee

Gavin Lee is a trumpet player with a passion for creating new music. Based in Edinburgh, he blends ideas from jazz, folk, and theatre in his compositions and performances. He is excited to bring his enthusiasm and contribute to music education.

Claire McCrossan

Claire has enjoyed being a NYOS musician and is delighted to now be working as a Music Leader. She has experience in music making with a variety of people with additional support needs and in school and care settings. She is keen to go on to study music therapy and uses her love of music to create connections and improve wellbeing.

Laura Mckay

Laura is a clarinettist and saxophonist from Cumbernauld with a first-class honours degree in Music from Kingston University. Since graduating, she has worked with Oi Musica and Tinderbox Collective on various community projects. She is passionate about making music accessible to everyone and is looking forward to working with her mentor to improve her practice. 

Ross Morris

Ross Morris is a classical guitarist who has performed across the UK and North America as a soloist and chamber musician. Based in Scotland, Ross is a member of the Quartet Malamatina and Live Music Now with the Morris-Begg Duo, and teaches guitar at the University of St. Andrews.

Lucy Pye

Lucy is a cellist originally from Ayrshire, who studied performance at the RNCM in Manchester under Jennifer Langridge. She has performed in orchestras, chamber ensembles, choirs, and as a soloist, and has worked with a variety of organisations to bring music accessibility to people.

Cara Smith

Cara is a Scottish clarinettist currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. Alongside a love for orchestral and chamber music, Cara is passionate about widening access and participation in the arts. Prior to the RNCM, Cara studied at the RCS Junior Conservatoire and was throughly inspired by her time there.

Ola Stanton

Ola is a 21 year old violinist. She is originally from Perth and Kinross in Scotland, and is currently in her fourth year at the Royal Northern College of Music. Ola is interested in music education, music therapy and mental health, and is excited to get the most out of the Music Leaders programme.

Joe Woodward

Joe, a recent graduate of Edinburgh Napier University specialising in Classical Piano Performance, is passionate about music and education. With experience performing and teaching, Joe aims to become a dedicated music educator and to inspire other young musicians to develop creativity and confidence.
