Upcoming Performances
NYOS Development makes its debut at Glasgow City Halls in April 2026, joined by acclaimed cellist and NYOS alumnus Finn Mannion. Featured works include Bosmans’ Poème for cello and orchestra and Poulenc's Les Biches.
In summer, NYOS Development present an enchanting evening of orchestral music, featuring works by Holst, Elgar, and Grace Williams's Penillion.

My highlight of my NYOS Development experience was getting the opportunity to work with other young musicians from all over Scotland, making new friends, and actually getting to talk about music and shared interests. I also absolutely loved playing in the orchestra—NYOS is such an amazing environment!

Financial Support
No young person who is offered a place on a NYOS course will miss out due to financial circumstances.
Finance should never be a barrier to joining the NYOS community and we encourage applying for NYOS to visit our Financial Assistance page page to see what support you might be eligible for. Auditions are free and course bursaries of up to 100% are available. In 2025, 56% of our orchestral participants received bursary support, and nearly a third of our players attended their orchestra completely free of charge.

What are the course costs? Course costs vary depending on which orchestra you are a member of. You can find more information on membership fees here.

May I apply on more than one instrument? Yes, but please complete a separate application form for each instrument.
Please Note: a doubling instrument (e.g. cor anglais, piccolo, bass clarinet. etc.) does not require a separate form. However, if you intend to offer this as part of your audition, please include a video of the applicable excerpt as well as one piece of your own as part of what you upload to our auditions platform.
-
When is the closing date for applications? The closing date for all application forms and pre-recorded solo auditions is midnight on Sunday 12 October 2025.
For late applications and auditions, please contact ensembles@nyos.co.uk, if you haven't done so already.
-
Do I need to be available for all course dates? We expect participants to be available for all the course dates and commit to the orchestra and their fellow musicians. However if you do have any problems with the dates then please get in touch with us via email ensembles@nyos.co.uk to discuss this.
Participants may not be excused for one of the following reasons:

Participants may be excused from a course for specific reasons such as representing their country in another activity e.g. sport, or attending activities relating to further education studies e.g. university terms clash, graduations.
Participants should not book social activities or events that clash with NYOS courses.

Is there financial support available? No young person who successfully auditions for any NYOS ensemble will miss out due to financial circumstances.
