NYOS Concert Club - Rachmaninov's Second Symphony

We are thrilled to offer members of the NYOS community the opportunity to attend our next NYOS Concert Club to see the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

NYOS Concert Club is a chance for members of our community to come together and enjoy fantastic live music. Tickets are offered for free and organised by NYOS, and the concerts offer not just a great chance to see musicians and orchestras performing outstanding classical music.

For our next Concert Club, we have selected the following performance:

Rachmaninov's Second Symphony

Thursday 20 November, 7.30pm (approx. run time of 2 hours 10 mins including interval)
Glasgow City Halls
Orchestra: BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra
Conductor: Martyn Brabbins
Soloist: Stephanie Gonley (violin)

A fantastic programme to launch out new season of Concert Club featuring NYOS Patron, Sir James MacMillan, and one of Rachmaninov’s most beloved works. This year the BBC SSO turns 90 and as part of the celebrations they are performing MacMillan’s The Confession of Isobel Gowdie, a piece they premiered at the 1990 Proms and helped launch MacMillan’s international career. Conductor and composer Ian Whyte is another important voice in Scottish classical music as the founder of the BBC SSO. The 90th celebration continue with his violin concert featuring Stephanie Gonley. The programme rounds off with Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 2, a fantastic romantic symphony, and it is conducted by friend of NYOS, Martyn Brabbins.

NYOS Concert Club is open to young people aged 14 upwards.

Tickets are free and offered on a first come, first served basis. Each person who signs up will be offered one ticket.

Young people under the age of 16 must be signed in and out of the concert by a parent/guardian. Those aged 16 and 17 are welcome to travel to/from the concerts themselves if written permission is provided in advance by a parent/guardian.
