A Summer of Spectacular Music

(c) Stuart Armitt, 2026

Perth and Edinburgh - we've got a spectacular summer of music coming your way.

Join us as both of Scotland's national youth orchestras take to the stage across Scotland to perform diverse and exciting programmes that pay homage to the greats of classical music and showcase innovative contemporary voices.

We're kicking off our summer with a journey through the cosmos as NYOS performs Holst's iconic suite The Planets at concerts in Perth and Edinburgh. Alongside Holst, the concerts will feature cutting-edge works from Iris ter Schiphorst and Camille Pépin that will transport you deep into the universe and bring the night sky to life. We are also excited to be stepping off the stage to host a series of pop-up performances at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh's world-class science centre and planetarium. These performances are free to attend and offer both music lovers and science enthusiasts the chance to experience live orchestral music in a truly unique setting.

We're then heading back to Perth with the NYOS Development orchestra as they present a celebration of some of the UK's most influential composers. The programme features Holst's satirical ballet, The Perfect Fool, Grace Williams' pioneering Penillion, and Elgar's timeless musical mystery, Enigma Variations.

We're all about making it easier for everyone to access incredible live orchestral music, which is why we offer free tickets for under 18s and discounts for students, under 25s, and those in receipt of Universal Credit.
