NYOS 2026 Programmes Unveiled

National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, Young Euro Classic 2025

Featuring meditations on identity and memory, cosmic wonder and earthly life, our 2026 NYOS orchestras concerts are not to be missed.

After a year of outstanding orchestral achievements, from NYOS Development’s triumphant Tchaikovsky No. 5 in Dundee to the NYOS orchestra’s roof-raising Berlin performance and award-winning Capperauld commission, we couldn’t be more excited to announce our orchestral programming for 2026!

In 2026, our orchestras will perform vibrant works by the likes of Gustav Holst, Henriette Bosmans and Peter Maxwell Davies at venues across Scotland, including very special pop-up performances at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.

Explore our 2026 orchestral programmes below.

NYOS Summer 2025, Perth Concert Hall

NYOS 2026 Programme

What happens when a wedding party stretches into the morning on a remote Scottish island? Find out this spring when the NYOS orchestra performs Peter Maxwell Davies’ Orkney Wedding, with Sunrise, featuring a glorious bagpipe solo. The spring programme will be complimented by Sarah Lianne Lewis’ Creatures of Dust and Dreams and Vaughan Williams’ metropolitan tribute, A London Symphony

In summer, expect futuristic electronics and dazzling soundscapes as NYOS ventures into the cosmos! Our young musicians will perform Holst’s The Planets, Camille Pépin’s Laniakea and Iris ter Schiphorst’s Gravitational Waves. Edinburgh audiences will also be treated to unmissable pop-up performances at Dynamic Earth on Saturday 11 July, featuring selected movements from The Planets

NYOS Development 2026 Programme

NYOS Development makes its debut at Glasgow City Halls in April 2026, joined by acclaimed cellist and NYOS alumnus Finn Mannion, to perform Henriette Bosmans’ evocative Poème for cello and orchestra. The orchestra will travel back in time to explore the diverse musical legacy of post-WWI Europe, capturing “The Crazy Years” of 1920s France and the spirit of revolutionary Croatia. Featuring music from Dora Pejačević, Francis Poulenc and Maurice Ravel.

In July 2026, NYOS Development celebrates British orchestral voices, with the intricately crafted Penillion by Welsh composer Grace Williams featuring in the summer programme at the Perth Concert Hall. Expect wizarding mischief from Holst’s The Perfect Fool and soaring melodies in Elgar’s iconic Enigma Variations.

From beloved classics to cutting edge compositions, next year’s programming promises to offer audiences enthralling concert experiences. Tickets will go on sale in the new year – we look forward to seeing you there!
