Following an outstanding European tour this summer, NYOS and Catherine Larsen-Maguire are concluding their collaboration by mutual agreement. They are grateful for the musical growth and memorable performances they created together and look forward to their respective new artistic endeavours.

NYOS remain absolutely dedicated to creating world-class musical experiences for Scotland’s young people. Plans for our 2026 are underway with applications open for both of our orchestras, and an exciting programme of music planned for the year ahead.

For the forthcoming NYOS Camerata appearance at the Cumnock Tryst on Saturday 4 October, we are delighted to welcome Matthew Coorey as conductor for a performance of Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss, reimagined for wind ensemble by Nigel Shore.

Matthew is a renowned conductor with a global reputation who has conducted leading orchestras worldwide including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

He brings extensive experience working with youth orchestras including the Australian Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and regularly conducts and -teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music. His expertise in developing young musical talent makes him an ideal choice for this special performance.
