Training Ensembles
The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland’s Training Ensembles are four, short, non-auditioned residential summer courses for strings (including pedal harp), wind, brass and percussion. The courses focus on learning repertoire, listening skills, musicianship, audition preparation and having fun!
NYOS Training Ensembles are designed for younger players around the ages of 8 to 14 working on Grade 2 material upwards for brass and percussion and Grade 3 material upwards for strings and wind.
We are delighted to be welcoming our musicians back for in-person courses this year. We are continually assessing the ongoing situation with Covid and monitoring guidance to ensure that we are providing a safe environment for all participants. We will provide an update on Covid guidance shortly before the courses.
The well-being of our musicians, staff and audiences is our main priority so please do get in touch should you have any questions regarding this.
Thanks to external funding, from Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative and other trusts and foundations, bursaries of up to 100% are available for participants who find it difficult to meet the costs of our membership fees. Each case is assessed individually, and all applications are treated in the strictest confidence. To find out more please click here.
Applications for 2022 are now closed. For late applications, or if you have any questions, please contact course manager Jill Dykes ensembles@nyos.co.uk; 07392 934438. Click here to view the Training Ensembles Fair Processing Disclaimer.
