Jazz Access at Aberdeen Jazz Festival

2015 will be the ensemble’s third consecutive residency at the Aberdeen Jazz Festival.

For their 2015 season, the young musicians of NYOS Jazz Access ensemble look to one of the most exciting periods in jazz music - to the 1970s. After the liberalism of the 1960s and the emergence of the free and avant garde scenes, and the emergence of rock and roll, the inevitable fusion of jazz and rock came of age.

In this project we celebrate this movement through the music of Joe Zawinul's groundbreaking group Weather Report, blending grooves, improvisation, through-composed melodies and evolving ensemble textures.
