The National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland
The National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland (NYJOS) is one of Scotland's foremost youth jazz ensembles. Under the direction of Malcolm Edmonstone and Andrew Bain, NYJOS aims to provide students with the opportunity to study and perform jazz at the highest possible level, with respected professional musicians from the UK and beyond.

e heels of their critically acclaimed UK summer tour, Scotland’s finest young jazz musicians were joined once again by the dream pairing of reedsman Iain Dixon and guitarist Mike Walker in their debut appearance at the internationally renowned London Jazz Festival. This was an amazing opportunity for the band, as NYJOS embarks on its 20th anniversary year. The band, including Young Scottish Jazz Musician 2011, Ru Pattison, played to a packed and enthusiastic hall at the Barbican on 20 November.

Sean Gibbs has been playing the Trumpet for 5 years, after hearing one of his Dad's records he instantly fell in love with jazz. Joining NYJOS has motivated him to improve his playing.
