WORK OF NYOS

The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland is unique in that it provides orchestral experiences in classical and jazz music for its students from the age of 8 – 25, through no fewer than eight ensembles, ranging in age, size and musical style.

In addition to organising training, intensive rehearsals and national and international concert tours for its orchestras, The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland is committed to introducing musical experiences to Scotland’s young people through workshops in primary and secondary schools.

NYOS ensembles inspire audiences worldwide with their outstanding skill, youthful energy and panache. Audiences marvel at the powerful sound of our large-scale orchestras, appreciate the intimacy of our smaller chamber concerts and delight in the fresh and uplifting performances given by our jazz bands. They are often surprised and always impressed by the exceptional talent of Scotland’s young musicians.

We believe in the future of Scotland’s next generation of musicians, our students are proud and excited to be playing with Scotland’s National Youth Orchestras and we are passionate about supporting and developing their talent.

A donation to the work of NYOS enables us to educate, inspire and transform the lives of hundreds of children and young people from across Scotland. NYOS offers its students unrivalled opportunities to study classical, jazz and contemporary classical music.
